Club Trips

 

 

Welcome to the second semester!


The AGM will be THIS THURSDAY (11th Feb)  at 7:30 in The Rule. It is essential that as many people are there as possible!  It always has been, and will continue to be, a great night!


Positions are:


 

President – Oversees the work of the committee, chairs committee meetings and is

the first point of contact for members and other bodies such as the AU, MCofS
etc.

Secretary – During March-May they have to book the huts for the following year.
Throughout the year the keys for the huts need to given to those going on the
trips and then the keys and payment returned to the hut custodian. At the
beginning of the year the membership list needs to be created and this has to
be submitted to the AU and updated throughout the year.

Treasurer – Every Wednesday they have to sign people up for trips, take the
money and arrange transport. The club accounts have to be kept up to date and
submitted to the AU throughout the year. This involves balancing the books
while paying for huts, vehicles, fuel and other expenses. The club has a large
turn around with money constantly moving and the budget always tight.

Safety Officer – They have to amend the club safety policy, provide guidance on
good practise as well as carrying out routine checks on club equipment and the
climbing wall. Every year they have to arrange for an MIC to check all club
gear.

Wall Officer (2 positions) – Attend all wall sessions. Get the equipment out of
the cupboard, set up the ropes and assist new/inexperienced members with the
equipment or techniques required to use the wall safely. The two wall officers
can work together to split the role to suit timetables, other commitments etc.

Gear Officer – Keeps record of member’s use of club gear, recording any damage
and works with the safety officer to ensure that the equipment is in a good and
serviceable state. Buys new equipment from the AU gear fund for the club.

Social Secretary – Organises the social side of the club. This includes the
weekly social and other social events such as the roped flat crawl, Adrenalin
Ball and the dinner meet. This position will now include the publicity of the
club, principally the production and distribution of publicity material during
Fresher’s Week.

Web Officer – Maintains and manages the club website (
www.staumc.co.uk). This is
updated weekly with new messages and upcoming events. Some computer experience
is required but anyone can manage the basic jobs of this role. This position
now includes the log book role to produce a record of the clubs activities
throughout the year. This includes getting stories, anecdotes and photographs
from members about their times with the club in the past year and producing a log book from them.

 


The wall sessions are back on, mon 6.30 till 8.30 and thursday 12 till 2.
