Dinner Meet, 75th

Club Trips

the trip this weekend 2nd May is a climbing trip aimed at people with experience
of climbing outdoors. There may be some spaces left. Email Laura (ley5) for more
details.

This Wednesday the sign up will be for the Dinner Meet (9-11th May). This is one
of the best trips of the year. We will be camping at Badrallach
(http://www.badrallach.com/stay/camping.html) and on the Saturday night have a
meal in a nearby hotel on the Saturday night. The price will be £40 including
transport, accommodation and the meal. Don't worry if you don't have a tent as
there should be enough for people to share.

The club is celebrating its 75th anniversary this summer with a party at
Glenmore lodge on the 20th-21st June. Many ex-members will be there. Booking
forms will be sent out shortly to current members. Join the Facebook event
(http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#/event.php?eid=75635571035) or see
the club website for more details.

Nevis and hoodies

Club TripsThe sign up this week is for a day meet to Ben Nevis on 21st March. This is the
highest hill in Britain with lots of walking, scrambling and climbing. There
may even be some snow left! Price is as usual £10.

We are hoping to have club hoodies made in the near future. If you have any
cheesy climbing slogan ideas that could go on the back then please email the
club.

Wall sessions continue as usual. Also remember the club socials, Thursday nights
9.30pm onwards, Whey Pat.

lochnager and AGM

Club TripsSignup this Wednesday is for a day trip on the 7 March to Lochnagar - this is in
the eastern Cairgorms, and as it's high up there may even be some snow left
over. There's a fair few Munro's that are hard to reach from elsewhere, and
some classic scrambling. Cost as per - £10

The climbing wall is on Tuesday evening 6-7 and Thursday lunch 12-2

Finally, this Thursday is the AGM - a great night of frolics and shenanigans,
where we happen to also elect a new committee. It's in the Whey Pat backroom,
starting at 8pm. Come along to elect a good committe for next year, and for the
speeches, which generally get worse as the night goes on. If any and all club
members could attend to get the maximum number of voters, and then we'll
probably make a night of it once the voting has finished.

carn dearg and AGM

Club TripsOkay, a couple of announcements this week. Firstly, there's a misprint on the
meets card, the sign up this Wednesday is a weekend trip to the Carn Dearg Hut
in Glen Clova. Cost is as usual, £25, and with a bit of luck there will be snow
to play in.

Secondly, not this Thursday but next (26th) will be the club AGM in the Whey Pat
back room, starting at 8. For those of you who are not familiar with this, it is when we decide
who will be on the committee for next year. So, if you fancy helping to run the
club, or just want a position of power you can abuse, this is your chance. The
positions up for grabs are -

President - bosses people around, generally overseas everything.

Secretary - organises trips, sorts out membership, buys the tea.

Treasurer - deals with all the money, worries when we have none.

Safety Officer - makes sure people are safe.

Gear Officer - looks after all the shiny things.

Social Secretary - organises the dinner meet and adrenaline ball, drinks in the
pub.

Wall Officer - runs the climbing wall.

Publicity Officer - makes posters and club clothing, mainly around freshers
week.

Web Officer - keeps the website up and running, posts embarrassing pics of
people.

Log Editor - compiles the log book at the end of the year.

If you have any questions about the job, just ask the current person. So if
you'd like one of those jobs come along and stand for a position. Remember
this is your chance to have your say in how the club is run. Even if you aren't
going to stand for something you have to come along and heckle those who are
standing. This is always an excellent night for banter so I want to see
everyone there.

skye

Club TripsHAPPY NEW YEAR!

I hope everyone's exams are going well. There is just one announcement this week
but it is a very important one: this Wednesday is the sign up for the legendary
trip to SKYE! I'm excited about it already! This trip is undeniably brilliant
and perhaps the best trip we have all year. For those who haven't been before,
the plan is to go away for three days after exams (Fri 23th - Mon 25th) to the
Isle of Skye. On one night there will be a Burns supper with haggis, neeps and
tatties, cooked for you by the committee, along with lots of whisky. The bothy
we stay in sits right at the bottom of the Cullin Ridge so the possibilities
for walking and climbing are endless.

So if you want to come, and everyone should, I will accept no excuses, come
along to the Whey Pat on Wednesday between 1-2pm. The cost will be £30 and this
includes your Burns supper. If you can't make Wednesday just drop and email to
Jack (jmb57) saying you want to go as well as telling him if you require a
veggie meal. Emails must be in by
THIS SATURDAY.
