ben vorlich, adrenaline ball and blackrock

Club Trips

Sign up this week is for 2 trips due to reading week. First is a day trip leaving this Saturday for Ben Vorlich, 2 great Munro's near Lochearnhead(?) with great views over Loch Earn and the Central Highlands, along with a (slim) possibility of some proper snow. Leaving Saturday morning and back Saturday evening. Price £10.

The second trip is for Blackrock Cottage in Glencoe - I've not been here but it's supposed to be nice and it's very close to the Kingy and the Buchaille. This is the same weekend as the Adrenaline Ball so a good few people will be going up Saturday morning, (or very, very late Friday if we can find a driver - which has epic potential). As it's Glencoe there's absolute shedloads to do - walking, scrambling, climbing, photography, bimbling etc. There's even an indoor icewall. Price for the weekend £25.

This Thursday we have a free talk by the head of Leuchars Mountain Rescue Team in School 2 in the Quad about what they get upto, probably some safety, random anecdotage. The talk starts at 7:30. Bring your friends

Finally the Adrenaline Ball is now very close. If you want tickets for either the dinner+dance(£29.50), or the just dance(£15), turn up to any club event (wall or pub) or email Chris Lyness (cl423). We need payment by the end of the week for guarantee a ticket.

Welcome to the St Andrews University Mountaineering Club website

STAUMC exists to help members of the university get out and enjoy Scotland. Whether you want to go walking, climbing, or even swimming in Scottish lochs and rivers, there will be someone else who fancies the same. Whatever your level of experience STAUMC can help.

We are one of the most active in the university clubs, holding meets every weekend during term time to some of the best parts of Scotland, along with climbing, pub nights and lunches throughout the week. More information can be found in the introduction section. If there's a particular location that you would like to go to with STAUMC, talk to any of the commitee and we'll see what we can do in the way of organising a trip there.

On these pages, you'll find information about the club and what we do, including a calender of events, a gallery of pictures, a forum, kit lists and much more...
