Climbing

Climbing

The club has climbing sessions twice a week on the climbing wall at the University Sports Centre - Monday 6:30 - 8:30 and Thursday 13:00 - 15:00. All abilities are welcome from complete novice to experienced climbers. No special equipment is needed as the club has a number of harnesses , belay plates and shoes it can lend out.

The club also travels to Avertical world in Dundee. An indoor climbing centre. Normally, people meet at the Whey Pat between 13:00 and 14:00 on Wednesdays, leaving just after 14:00. Often, car travel can be arranged, but people also regularly take the bus (99 from the Bus station, £5 return)

There is also some outdoor climbing near St Andrews (mostly at The Maiden - a sea stack south of the leisure centre) but not much of any quality within walking distance. A bit further are some very nice sea cliffs - both bolted and trad. During the warmer parts of the year the club has trips to crags (notably Aberdour, Limekilns and the Aberdeen and Arbroath Sea Cliffs). Finally of course, you can always (weather permitting) try and get some climbing in on the regular club trips at the weekends.
