CLUB TRIPS

Glen Affric in snow
The club runs trips away most weekends to various locations where many possible options are available - whether they be climbing, bagging the next Munro or spending the entire day in the pub. There are two types of trip (meet) offered by the club - either a day trip to a (relatively) nearby hill which will arrive back in St Andrews the same night, or a bothy/camping trip to somewhere further afield. Day trips (generally) leave at about 7am on the Sunday from outside the sports centre and arrive back about 10pm. Bothy trips leave at about 5pm on the Friday from the sports centre and arrive back about 10pm on the Sunday, giving you two days on the hill.

During the winter the club stays in bothies (technically locked huts) which are sort of like very, very basic cottages, often situated in the wilderness. Facilities obviously change depending on the bothy, with a stove, cutlery, a toilet, and dining and sleeping areas (though not bedding) being common. Of course some huts are much posher with electricity, proper beds with mattresses and showers. It all depends. Fuller information will be sent out prior to each trip or contact our committee.During the summer the club will often camp at campsites. If you want more information about a particular bothy/campsite please contact the committee. To find out when and where we\'re going see the meet list
